PEGASUS IMAGING DEVELOPS AND DELIVERS ADOBE PHOTOSHOP PLUG-IN FOR HD PHOTO FORMAT

Plug-in available for Photoshop CS3 and CS2 on Windows and Mac platforms.

TAMPA, FL, MARCH 6, 2007 – Pegasus Imaging Corporation, the leading provider of digital image compression technology, today announced the delivery of an HD Photo Plug-in for Adobe® Photoshop® software. Microsoft contracted with Pegasus to complete development of the plug-in supporting Microsoft’s HD Photo image compression format within the CS3 and CS2 versions of the Adobe Photoshop software on Windows, Mac (Intel) and Mac (PowerPC). Microsoft owns the rights to these plug-ins and will be responsible for all distribution and support. Support for the HD Photo technology will also soon be available within Pegasus Imaging’s advanced PICTools Photo software development kit (SDK) on the same platforms.

“Microsoft chose Pegasus Imaging to complete development of the HD Photo plug-ins based on its expertise in image compression technology and with HD Photo algorithm knowledge specifically,” said Josh Weisberg, director of Digital Imaging Business Development at Microsoft Corp. “Pegasus Imaging also brought the experience needed to deal with the creation of plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop software and cross-platform development experience.”

HD Photo (formerly Windows Media Photo) is a new format for end-to-end digital photography which offers higher image quality, greater preservation of data and advanced features for today’s digital imaging applications. It is a still image compression algorithm for continuous tone photographic images and features lossy, as well as lossless, compression, multiple colorspaces, a wide dynamic range, and extensive metadata support.

"We believe that Microsoft's new HD Photo file format has tremendous potential in the photo market, combining many of the best features of JPEG and JPEG 2000. Supporting this format in Pegasus Imaging's photo SDKs seemed like a no-brainer to us,” said Marc Brechwald, senior business development manager at Pegasus Imaging. “We are also excited that Microsoft and Pegasus Imaging collaborated on this project to develop plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop software. We hope that our expertise in advanced imaging and experience in custom projects porting code across multiple platforms will enable us to be a valuable industry partner to Microsoft now and in the future."
