PEGASUS IMAGING CORPORATION OFFERS DEVELOPERS DATAMATRIX BARCODE READING |
| TAMPA, August 29, 2002 - Pegasus Imaging Corporation, the leader in digital imaging technology, today released two-dimensional (2D) DataMatrix barcode detection and reading capability. It is included within the widely used barcode recognition toolkit Smartscan Xpress Barcode, as the new Pro Plus DataMatrix edition. This new Smartscan Xpress Barcode edition allows developers to add DataMatrix barcode detection and reading to forms processing and document imaging applications. It also includes all the features and capabilities of the Professional edition, including common one-dimensional (1D) barcode detection, reading and writing, as well as 2D PDF417 barcode detection and reading. "DataMatrix is used in many applications because it offers higher data density than 1D barcodes," says Chris Lubeck, vice president of development at Pegasus Imaging Corporation. "You can store up to 3,000 characters within a single barcode, including binary data, and it contains error correction code that allows it to be read even if it's damaged." Additional improvements to all editions of the Smartscan Xpress Barcode product were released with the introduction of the new Pro Plus DataMatrix edition. The 1D barcode reading capability has been improved, and the barcodes per second (BPS) speeds for both basic and standard editions have been increased. Smartscan Xpress Barcode Basic has increased from 4 BPS to 6 BPS, and Smartscan Xpress Barcode Standard has increased from 6 BPS to 20 BPS. Smartscan Xpress Barcode Professional remains unchanged, with unlimited BPS. Visit the Pegasus Imaging website at http://www.pegasusimaging.com/smartscanbarcode.htm for a complete description of Smartscan Xpress Barcode. A free full-featured trial version is available for immediate download. |
