PICTOOLS IMAGE COMPRESSION NOW OFFERED ON 64-BIT WINDOWS PLATFORM BY PEGASUS IMAGING |
| TAMPA, FL, February 28, 2005 - Pegasus Imaging Corporation today releases PICTools™ image compression technology for use on the 64-bit Windows® platform. Lossy JPEG and JPEG2000 compression are the first technologies being released today for the PICTools product line. Pegasus Imaging plans to port all PICTools image compression and image editing technologies to 64-bit Windows, Solaris, Linux, and more. "We are committed to supporting our customers' efforts to keep up with Microsoft's latest operating system releases," says Jack Berlin, president of Pegasus Imaging. "Since 1991, we've been optimizing image compression and porting it to various operating systems. Our industry leading customers recognize Pegasus Imaging as their supplier of solid, reliable image compression SDK's. This port guarantees their code will be supported for years to come." The PICTools software development kit (SDK) contains low-level C libraries providing the fastest compression and decompression engines available, as well as multiple image editing functions. Maximum code speed has been achieved through algorithm and machine code optimizations. PICTools has been optimized for several chip instruction sets, including Intel MMX, PIII, PIV and IBM PowerPC. PICTools technologies are supported across multiple environments, including Windows (32-bit and 64-bit), Solaris, Linux, AIX, Mac, BeOS, and QNX. The underlying architecture of PICTools allows desired imaging functionality to be efficiently ported to any requested operating system with a common interface and operating convention. All PICTools features are available for the 32-bit Windows platform, and many are also currently available on additional platforms. PICTools technologies are licensed per technology used, per platform. Environments not currently supported can easily be ported. Visit the Pegasus Imaging website at www.pegasusimaging.com/compression.htm for complete product descriptions, including demos and trial downloads. To discuss desired platform support, licensing, or special needs, please contact sales@jpg.com. Windows® is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation. |
